WORCESTER, Mass. – Assumption finished fourth in the 2016-17 Northeast-10 Conference Presidents' Cup, the second-highest finish in school history and with the highest score ever, as revealed at the league's annual year-end banquet on Sunday, June 4.
The Hounds garnered 166.0 total points this past year, which is the highest-ever point total in school history. It is 17 points higher the previous best of 149 points set back during the 2014-15 season and marks the third consecutive year Assumption has finished in the top six overall.
"I am proud of our student-athletes for all they accomplished during 2016-2017 to lead Assumption to its highest point total ever in the Presidents' Cup Standings," said Director of Athletics Nick Smith. "It is an impressive feat, as is taking fourth overall in the standings and finishing just eight points out of second place. At Assumption, our athletic programs continue to strive for excellence athletically, academically and in the community, and I look forward to seeing what they will accomplish in 2017-2018."
The Presidents' Cup is presented annually to signify overall athletic excellence in the Northeast-10. The honor is awarded to the institution that compiles the most cumulative points, based on finishes in the regular-season standings, from all of its programs competing in league championships.
