Baldarelli, Guy Named to Northeast-10 All-Academic Teams
Easton, Mass. (April 19) -- Assumption College senior men's basketball player Mike Baldarelli (Sutton, Mass./Holy Name) and sophomore women's swimmer Amanda Guy (Lakeville, Mass./Apponequet) have each been named to the Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference Teams for the 2010-2011 winter athletic season. In total, 65 student-athletes were honored from seven winter sports.
Baldarelli, a two-time team captain who has received the Assumption Student-Athlete Director's Citation every semester at Assumption, was one of five men's basketball players recognized. A Northeast-10 All-Conference Third Team selection, Baldarelli led the team in scoring in 15 games and finished the season averaging a team-best 15.3 points per game. He also shot 37.8 percent from three-point land and ranked among the Northeast-10 league leaders in scoring throughout this senior season.
Guy, a three-time recipient of the Assumption Student-Athlete Director's Citation, is a management major and one of the team's top swimmers. Guy set the school record in the women's 50 freestyle at the Northeast-10 Invitational on December 4, 2010, finishing in a time of 25.91. Guy was also among the top two on the team in the 100 freestyle (55.92), the 200 freestyle (1:59.47) and the 500 freestyle (5:17.48).
To be eligible for selection to ther Academic All-Conference Teams, a student-athlete must have met and/or exceeded the following minimum requirements: 1) participated in at least half of the team's competitions and be either a starter or a significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale); 3) completed at least one academic year as his/her current institution. The Northeast-10 Academice All-Conference Teams are chosen by a vote of a committee of athletic administrators and Faculty Athletic Representatives (FAR).
