Hounds student-athletes involved in the community again . . .

   WORCESTER, Mass. --- The Assumption College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and the women’s swimming and diving team were part of the “Rebuilding Together Worcester” this past weekend.
    Rebuilding Together Worcester is a volunteer organization that forms partnerships with corporations, individuals and other organizations committed to improving the community by rehabilitating the houses of low-income homeowners, particularly the elderly, disabled and families with children. In addition, it helps to rehabilitate non-profit facilities such as community centers and shelters.
    The mission of the National Collegiate Athletic Association Student Athlete Advisory Committee is to enhance the total student-athlete experience by promoting opportunity, protecting student-athlete welfare and fostering a positive student athlete image. A student-athlete advisory committee (SAAC) is a committee made up of student-athletes assembled to provide insight on the student-athlete experience. The SAAC also offers input on the rules, regulations and polices that affect student athletes' lives on NCAA member institution campuses.
    More than 200 volunteers worked on nine projects with RTW renovating eight homes of low-income homeowners and painting hallways at Doherty Memorial High School. The organization helps low-income people, including the elderly and the disabled.
