RINDGE, NH --- Senior guard JOHANNAH LEEDHAM (Ellesmere Port, England/Cheshire Academy), the Northeast-10 Conference leading scorer, scored 27 points to lead No. 1 nationally ranked Franklin Pierce University (16-0, 12-0) past Assumption College, 83-63, in womens basketball action last night at the Ravens gym.
The Greyhounds, now 9-8 overall and 6-6, in the conference were led by a trio of double-figure scorers led by senior forward KAYLA PARKER (Sanford, ME/Sanford) (17 points, six rebounds), sophomore forward KELLY MEREDITH (Franklin, MA/Franklin) (16 points, five rebounds) and freshman guard GABRIELLE GIBSON (Amityville, NY/Copiague) (13 points).

The game was a nip-and-tuck affair for the first half as Franklin Pierce surged to a 39-35 advantage. Leedham made a pair of free throws with 2:03 remaining to make it 39-30. The Greyhounds then got a twisting inside move for a basket by Parker on a feed from senior guard JACKIE BRANCA (Hanson, MA/Whitman-Hanson) and Parker made three free throws down-the-stretch to cut it to four points at the half.
Franklin Pierce started the second half on a 17-2 run to move to a 56 37 margin as senior guard KIRSTEN DOLDOORIAN (Brimfield, MA/Oxford) drilled a top-of-the-circle three-pointer.
Assumption is next in action when they host conference rival Saint Michael's College Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Laska Gym. It is Winter Homecoming for the Greyhounds. Franklin Pierce is at American International College Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
