Siciliano leads Greyhound women past Adelphi, 67-41

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. --- Sophomore forward
SABRINA SICILIANO (Fairfield,
CT/Fairfield-Ludlowe) (PICTURED RIGHT) scored a season-
and career-high 22 points as Assumption College defeated Adelphi
University, 67-41, in a Northeast-10 Conference women’s
basketball game here SUNDAY.
Also playing well in support roles were junior
forward KELLY MEREDITH (Franklin, MA/Franklin) (15
points), senior forward/captain MOLLY GRIFFITHS
(Walpole, MA/Ursuline Academy) (13 points, 11 rebounds) and
sophomore point KATY HOWARD (Medway, MA/Medway)
(13 points, six assists).
Siciliano finished with 10-for-12 floor
accurcy, three steals and seven rebounds. All of Griffiths 11
rebounds came on the defensive glass.
Sophomore guard KARA TANCREDI
(Beacon, NY/Beacon) led the Panthers with 15 points, while senior
forward ASHLEY CAIAFA (Massapequa Park,
NY/Massapequa) chipped in 13 points and seven rebounds. The
overall statistics tell a truer story as the Greyhounds shot .500
from-the-floor (27-for-54), while the Panthers finished just
13-for-54 at .241. Assumption led 38-16 at the half.
Just over three and a half minutes into the
second half, Assumption would extend its lead to 30 points on a
lane jumper by Siciliano.
The Greyhounds, who have now won three straight
games are 4-1 overall and 3-0 in the conference. Adelphi
falls to 1-3 overall and 0-3 in the conference. Assumption is
at American International College WEDNESDAY at 5:30 p.m. in another
conference matchup. Adelphi is next in action WEDNESDAY hosting
Southern Connecticut State.
