Meredith leads Assumption past Golden Knights

Worcester, Mass. --- The Greyhouds of Assumption College defeated
the Golden Knights of Saint Rose 63-44 Thursday night, behind 23
points by junior forward Kelly Meredith (Franklin,
MA/Franklin). Meredith would also have six rebounds and two steals,
shooting ten-of-fifteen from the floor.
Senior forward Molly Griffiths
(Walpole, MA/Ursuline Academy) had eight points and a game-high 14
rebounds for Assumption, helping the Greyhounds to their fourth
straight victory. Sophomore guard Katy Howard
(Medway, MA/Medway) had a season-high 16 points, shooting
four-of-five from the field.
For the Golden Knights, junior guard Ola
Shajuyigbe (Albany, NY/Colonie) had a team-high 11 points.
Senior forward Amy Voelkel (Mohegan Lake,
NY/Lakeland) had nine rebounds.Junior guard Adrianna
Gaeta (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott) added nine points and
three rebounds.
Assumption had the lead for most of the first
half, taking a 12-point advantage into halftime after a pair of
free throws by Howard, 32-20. They would press their advantage in
the second half with their lead never in danger. As a team,
Assumption shot 48.9% from the floor, capitalizing on 22 Saint Rose
turnovers.
Kelly Meredith is now 56 points short of joining
Griffiths and other former Greyhounds legends as a 1,000 point
scorer at Assumption.
Assumption's record is now 15-5 with a 13-3
record in the Northeast-10. They play next this Saturday as they
visit Pace University in a 1:30 p.m. game. Saint Rose falls to 14-6
with a 10-6 record in conference. Their next game is hosting
American International, also on Saturday.
