WORCESTER, Mass. - Assumption College Vice President of Enrollment Management Evan Lipp and Interim Director of Athletics Peter Gardula are pleased to announce the creation of Blue & White Sports at the College, beginning in the 2019-20 academic year.
Blue & White Sports are an initiative to increase the opportunities for competitive sport offerings outside of NCAA sanctioned competition at Assumption College. The first three sports will begin competition during the 2019-20 year. These offerings will be men’s swimming, women’s ice hockey and esports.
"Assumption College is pleased to offer these additional opportunities for prospective students beginning with the fall 2019 school year," said Lipp. "The Blue & White Sports are new offerings at Assumption and will help us recruit and retain additional students from across New England and the nation. There is significant demand and high school participation for each of the designated new offerings."
These programs will compete against other schools in the region with the expectation of eventually competing at the highest national club level for their respective sport. A qualified coach will be hired for each sport to recruit potential student-athletes and then help them develop the necessary skills to be successful once they arrive on campus. Coaches will also be in charge of creating regular season schedules and putting teams in position to succeed in post season competition.
“I’m excited to add the Blue & White Sports at Assumption,” said Gardula. “It is a great opportunity for us to continue to bring in highly qualified students to the College, as well as develop strong programs for these emerging sports.”
