  • NCBWA All-American Honors for Jaehnig

    WORCESTER, Mass. – Assumption College junior catcher Andrew Jaehnig (Quincy, Mass. / Boston College) became the 11th player in the programs history to be named All-American when the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) selected him to the Honorable Mention All-American Team.

    WORCESTER, Mass. – The seventh annual Worcester Area Baseball All-Star teams have been announced today, as selected by the area’s athletic communication directors. Two members of the Assumption College baseball team were honored, as junior catcher Andrew Jaehnig (Quincy, Mass. / Boston College) was named the Worcester Area Player of the Year and also to the First Team, while freshman second baseman Jared Brescia (Brentwood, N.H. / Exeter) was selected to the Second Team.

    The Lead: Senior Danny Hoffer (Yonkers, N.Y. / Stepinac / University of Maine) earned his first collegiate win on the mound and classmates Tom Brengal (Hicksville, N.Y. / Holy Trinity) and Kevin O?Connor (Leominster, Mass. / Leominster) each recorded their first hits at the plate as Assumption took down Bentley 14-2 on senior day.

    The Lead: The Assumption College baseball team defeated Bentley 11-10 today in 14 innings at Rocheleau Field. The Hounds led 9-4 at one point before falling behind 10-9 in the tenth inning and rallying to win.

    The Lead: Southern New Hampshire swept a pair of games today at Rocheleau field, defeating Assumption 12-6 in the first game, before pulling out a 5-4 win in game two where freshman Ben Curry (Derry, N.H. / Pinkerton Academy) was thrown out at the plate trying to score the game tying run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth.

    The Lead: Merrimack received a huge day from Cam DiSarcina, who finished 5-for-5 with walk, two homeruns, four RBI and five runs as the Warriors cruised their way to a 16-1 win today.
  • Baseball Falls in Ten Innings to Stonehill, 2-1

    Junior Kyle Chudoba (Oxford, Conn. / Oxford) and Stonehill’s Patrick Hurley were locked in a pitcher’s duel for the majority of the game as the teams went to extra innings tied at 1-1. The Skyhawks eventually scored in the bottom of the tenth inning to win as the Hounds couldn’t capitalize on a bases loaded opportunity in the top of the ninth inning.
