AIC Takes Down Men's Soccer 5-0

 

THE BASICS:

- Score: AIC 5, Assumption 0

- Records: AIC (4-6-1, 3-4-1 NE10), Assumption (4-8, 2-6 NE10)

- Location: Springfield, Mass. (Abdow Field)

- The Lead: Assumption trailed just 1-0 at the half, but gave up four second-half goals as AIC came away with the 5-0 victory on Tuesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- AIC got on the board in the 23rd minute as JP Rylah scored off an assist from Steven Hernandez.

- The score remained 1-0 until the 54th minute, when Jovanni Garcia tallied his fourth goal of the year for a 2-0 lead. The Yellow Jackets added three more goals over the final 25 minutes of action for a 5-0 final.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- AIC held a 13-8 edge in shots and a 9-5 advantage in shots on goal. Assumption did have seven corners to just one for the Yellow Jackets.

- Sophomore goalie Brian Murray (Camas, Wash. / Camas) took the loss in net, making four saves while playing the full 90 minutes. Ioannis Iatroudis stopped five shots in victory.

- Assumption returns to action on Saturday when the team hosts Saint Rose at 4 pm.
