Softball Drops Two Games to Southern New Hampshire

BASICS:

- Scores:Southern New Hampshire 4, Assumption 0 (Game One), Southern New Hampshire 15, Assumption 0 (Game Two) 

- Records: Assumption (17-17, 13-9 NE10), Southern New Hampshire (24-17, 10-11, NE10)

- Location: Manchester, N.H. (Southern New Hampshire)

- The Lead: Southern New Hampshire shutout the Hounds in a NE10 doubleheader on Friday evening.


HOW IT HAPPNED: GAME ONE:

- The Penmen scored all four of their runs in the bottom of the first inning. With the bases loaded, Jessica Torsiello hit a single to score teammates Erin Garcynski and Katie Horiuchi. Torisello then scored along with Sarah Lavallee when Devan Rabidou hit a double to left field to take to 4-0 lead. 

- The Hounds left two runners on base in the second inning and in the fifth inning as Southern New Hampshire's Nicole Gubellini pitched a shutout and finished the complete game. 


GAME TWO: 

- The Hound offense loaded the bases with four singles from Ashley Clark (Pawtucket, R.I. / William E. Tolman), Caitlin Mirabell (Shoreham, N.Y./ Shoreham-Wading River), Ashley Abad (Bedford, N.H. / Bedford) and Stephanie Menard (Cranston, R.I. / Cranston HS West) but the Southern New Hampshire pitcher, Lavallee escaped the inning without allowing any runs.

- The Penmen tallied ten runs in the bottom of the second inning. Garcynski led the offense with two RBI while Hannah Neverett, Erin Morrissey and Brittany Perdigao each added one.

- Southern New Hampshire tallied their final three runs in the fifth inning. Gabriella Vachon doubled to left field to and Garcynski singled to each record an RBI while Kailey March tripled to drive in Morrisey and Vachon.  


INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- In game one, Kendal Roy (Grafton, Mass./Grafton) faced 27 batters in six innings, striking out four. 

- In game two, Jurnee Serating-Ware (Hudson, Mass./Hudson) pitched 1.1 innings and recorded one strikeout and allowed five hits. Senior Courtney Oliva (Vernon, Conn/Rockville) came in for relief and pitched the final 2.2 innnings and registered three strikeouts.

- The Hounds travel back to Southern New Hampshire to face the Penmen at 12 pm.
