No. 20 Ranked Greyhounds Host No. 3 Bridgeport and WPI

Worcester, Mass. (November 18) -- The Assumption women's swimming team, ranked No. 20 nationally in the latest Avidasports Division II National Poll, hosted No. 3 ranked Bridgeport and crosstown rival WPI on Friday afternoon in a tri-meet at the Plourde Recreation Center.

Assumption started things off on a strong note as the 400-yard medley relay team won the event in a school-record time of 4:08.13. The team of Carly Eckles (Sherborn, Mass./Dover-Sherborn), Elise Prayson (Dayton, Ohio/Archbishop Alter), Katherine Medeiros (Mattapoisett, Mass./Bishop Stang) and Jennifer Ryan (Weston, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas) beat the previous record by .25 seconds.

Medeiros captured the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:01.00, while Eckles was victorious in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:02.61. Kerry Silva (Seekonk, Mass./Seekonk) also picked up a victory as she won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:59.29.

Assumption is back in action on Saturday, November 19th as the Hounds host Sacred Heart University for a 1 p.m. start.
