    Providence, R.I. (June 10) -- Assumption College has finished sixth out of 15 institutions in the 2016 Northeast-10 Conference President’s Cup standings, which were announced on Monday night in Providence, R.I. at the league’s annual Awards Night ceremony at the Providence Hilton.

(May 13) -- The Assumption College Department of Athletics recently held the First “Houndies” Student-Athlete Awards Night, honoring the top student-athletes and accomplishments from the 2015-2016 athletic season. The event was held in Laska Gym with nearly 700 student-athletes and special guests in attendance and featured women’s basketball head coach Kerry Phayre and football head coach Bob Chesney as emcees for the evening.

    Freshman Shannon Quirk (Wakefield, Mass. / Wakefield Memorial) of the Assumption College swimming and diving team has been named 2015-16 Northeast-10 Rookie of the Year for her impressive performance in her inaugural season, the NE-10 announced Thursday.
  • Assumption Places 276 on NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll

    Mansfield, Mass. (February 11) -- The Northeast-10 Conference has released its Fall 2015 Commissioner’s Honor Roll and for the fall semester, 276 Assumption College student-athletes earned a spot on the honor roll for posting a grade point average (GPA) of a 3.0 or higher. Overall, 3,663 NE-10 student-athletes achieved a 3.0 or higher, which is a new conference mark and an improvement of over 200 from last fall.

  • Hounds Three-Peat NE-10 Championship

    The Assumption College swimming team clinched its third consecutive Northeast-10 Championship on Sunday evening at WPI. The Hounds accumulated a total of 796.50 points to edge Southern Connecticut by 36.5 points. Freshman Shannon Quirk (Wakefield, Mass. / Wakefield Memorial) kicked off the evening setting a new NE-10 record in the 1,650 freestyle.
  • Swimming Back in the Lead After Day Three at NE-10s

    The Assumption College swimming team has moved back into first place in the 2016 Northeast-10 Championships after the third day of competition. Assumption claimed five medals on the day in six events. Senior Victoria Weber (Augusta, Maine / Cony) helped lead the Hounds with three bronze medals, two as an individual.

    After two days of competition, the Assumption College swimming team has slipped to second place with a two-day total of 293.5 points after 14 events. The Hounds are just 9.5 points behind the current leader, Southern Connecticut, and medaled in four of the Hounds' five events on the evening.

    The Assumption College women's swimming team finished day one of competition at the 2016 Northeast-10 Championships in first place on Thursday evening with a team score of 114. Assumption leads Southern Connecticut and Bentley, which are tied for second with 104 points apiece.

(February 2) -- After claiming back-to-back titles in 2014 and 2015, the Assumption College women's swimming team has been picked to three-peat the Northeast-10 Championship in the 2016 Coaches' Poll, the league announced on Tuesday. The Hounds are set to host the 2016 Northeast-10 Swimming and Diving Championships this weekend, Thursday, Feb. 4 through Sunday, Feb. 7 at WPI.
  • Swimming Receives Scholar All-America Honor for 17th Straight Semester

    Norfolk, Va. (January 28) -- The Assumption College swimming team has been distinguished as one of just five teams in the Northeast-10 Conference to earn the Scholar All-America designation for their performance in the classroom during the Fall 2015 semester, the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) announced. The honor marks the 17th straight semester that the Hounds have been named to the list.
  • Quirk, 800 Freestyle Relay Team Honored by Northeast-10

(January 18) -- Assumption College freshman Shannon Quirk (Wakefield, Mass./Wakefield Memorial) has been named as the Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week after picking up two meet records at last week’s Worcester City Championship. In addition, the 800 meter freestyle relay team also earned Relay Team of the Week honors for their performance.
  • Hounds Take Fourth WCC Championship - Ferris Swimmer of the Meet

    The Assumption College women's swimming team claimed its fourth straight Worcester City Championship on Saturday night with a total score of 1,183 points. The Hounds broke nine meet records while senior Rachel Ferris (Stephentown, N.Y. / Berlin) was named Swimmer of the Meet for her impressive efforts.

(December 7) -- For the fifth time this season, freshman Shannon Quirk (Wakefield, Mass. / Wakefield Memorial) has been named NE-10 Rookie of the Week while senior Victoria Weber (Augusta, Maine / Cony) has earned her second NE-10 Swimmer of the Week honor, the league announced Monday. Weber's award marks the seventh time out of eight weeks that the Hounds have claimed the Swimmer of the Week honor.

    The Assumption College swimming and diving team broke three program records this weekend at the Harold Anderson Invitational hosted by the University of Rhode Island. The Hounds finished third of six teams as the only non-division I program in the competition while tallying nine top-three performances on the weekend. Several Hounds also completed the meet nationally ranked.

    The Assumption College swimming and diving team claimed a 177-83 victory over division I Sacred Heart on Senior Day at the Plourde Pool on Saturday. The Hounds took first in 11 of 16 events in the win.

    The Assumption College swimming team competed in the 2015 New England Invitational on Saturday in an unscored meet full of tough competition. Freshman Shannon Quirk (Wakefield, Mass. / Wakefield Memorial) broke the first Assumption record of the season while sophomores Niamh Morgan (Bettystown, Ireland / Sacred Heart School) and Carylyn Waite (Tampa, Fla. / Tampa Prep) earned multiple victories on the day.

    Sophomores Niamh Morgan (Bettystown, Ireland / Sacred Heart School) and Carylyn Waite (Tampa, Fla. / Tampa Prep) of the Assumption swimming and diving team combined to break three Plourde Pool records on Saturday afternoon in the Hounds' 156-98 victory over the Le Moyne Dolphins. The trio of records marks the first time in program history that three pool records have fallen in the same meet.

    The Assumption College swimming and diving team placed fourth in the Catholic College Invitational on Saturday following two days of competition against five division I teams at Boston College. Sophomore Niamh Morgan (Bettystown, Ireland / Sacred Heart School) won all three of her races on the day against the tough competition, surpassing each of her times from last year.
