Griffiths, Meredith Named to NE-10 All-Conference First Team
Easton, Mass. (February 25) -- Assumption College senior forward Molly Griffiths (Walpole, Mass./Ursuline Academy) and junior forward Kelly Meredith (Franklin, Mass./Franklin) have both been named to the Northeast-10 Women's Basketball All-Conference First Team.
Griffiths is currently second on the team and 16th in the Northeast-10 in scoring at 13.0 points per game, along with ranking seventh in rebounding at 8.6 boards per game. A one-time Northeast-10 Player of the Week in 2010-11, Griffiths also leads the Northeast-10 in three-point percentage (.464), is fifth in three-point field goals made (52) and fourth in defensive rebounds (6.68). In addition, she is sixth in the league in overall field goal percentage at 51.6 percent shooting.
Meredith, a two-time Northeast-10 Player of the Week, leads the league in scoring at 20.0 points per game. She is also 12th in the league in offensive rebounds at 2.42 per game and is coming off a 32-point, 10-rebound double-double in a home win over Southern Connecticut in the regular-season finale on Wednesday.
The Greyhounds are currently 20-6 overall and 18-4 in the Northeast-10 Conference, finishing the season in third place in the league standings. This marks the program's fifth all-time 20-win season and earned the Greyhounds a bye into the Northeast-10 Tournament Quarterfinals. Assumption will host the winner of the No. 11 Merrimack/No. 6 American International game on Tuesday, March 1st beginning at 7 p.m. at Laska Gym.
