WORCESTER, Mass. – Former Assumption goalie Jaclyn Chirco '17 has signed to play with the Boston Storm of the United Women's Lacrosse League (UWLX), as announced by the team earlier this week.
Chirco will play for her college head coach Abbey Capobianco, who was recently named head coach of the Storm. She is currently one of three goalies signed to the squad and begins her professional career after an outstanding career at Assumption. She was an IWLCA All-Region and NE10 All-Conference selection as a senior while helping the Hounds to an NE10 Tournament Appearance. Chirco finished second in the NE10 in saves (160) while also ranking fifth in save percentage (45.6) and fourth in wins (9). She started all 17 games in net, playing 958:14 minutes with an 11.96 GAA and a 9-8 record overall. The senior finished her career as the active NCAA Division II leader in saves with 606 and fourth in games played as a goalie with 68.
The United Women's Lacrosse League (UWLX) is the first professional women's lacrosse league in the world. It was launched by the United Women's Sports, LLC in collaboration with the Play It Forward Sport Foundation in Boston. The League currently has four teams, Baltimore, Boston, Long Island and Philadelphia and is make up of former college players.
