Kyle Autilio

THE BASICS:

- Score: Assumption 9, Saint Anselm 4

- Records: Assumption (21-14, 9-8 NE10), Saint Anselm (6-26, 2-15 NE10)

- Location: Worcester, Mass. (Rocheleau Field)

- The Lead: Starter James McNamara (Westford, Mass. / Westford Academy) pitched seven strong innings, Dillon Koster (Woburn, Mass. / Woburn / Marist College) produced three RBIs on three hits and the Assumption Greyhounds used 13 hits in all to take down the Saint Anselm Hawks 9-4 on Ari Schultz Day for the Hounds.

 HOW IT HAPPENED:

-McNamara allowed the Hawks to score twice in the first off of an RBI-double and a throwing error, but then settled, striking out five batters and allowing only three hits in seven innings of work in his team's win. He sat down seven batters in a row from the second through fourth inning and scattered two singles and two walks following the first inning.

-The Hounds took the lead for good in the bottom of the third when they had four men cross the plate on four hits. Derek Adamson (Chelmsford, Mass. / Chelmsford) started the scoring with an RBI-single to right. Trevor McQuade (Westwood, Mass. / Xaverian) then doubled in another run to make tie it at two and Koster singled in both Adamson and McQuade to give the Hounds a 4-2 lead.

-Koster used another one of his three hits in the bottom of the seventh to put the Hounds up 6-2. With two outs and Adamson on third after reaching on an error, stealing second and moving to third on a grounder, Koster singled through the right side to give Assumption a four-run lead.

-After throwing only eight pitches in a scoreless eighth and with the Hounds extending their lead to 9-2 in the bottom half of the inning, Kyle Autilio (Saugus, Mass. / Saugus High School) came back out for the ninth and found himself in a jam. He walked the bases loaded with two outs and then allowed one run to score on a walk and another on a singled to center field. However, Autilio settled and got Jack Dunklee to strike out swinging to end the game 9-4.
