- The lead: After the Assumption Greyhounds took a one goal lead with 1:07 left in the third period, Kevin Curley scored with just two seconds left in regulation for the Saint Anselm Hawks in an eventual 2-2 tie between two teams atop the Northeast-10 Conference.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-After going the entire second period without a goal and almost the entire third period, the Hounds' Khalil East (Los Angeles, CA / Mira Costa / Worcester State University) gave his team a 2-1 advantage with 1:07 left in the third. East dumped the puck into the zone and unintentionally got the puck on net. Saint Anselm goalie Colin Soucy pounced on it but couldn't find it underneath him, allowing the puck to slip into the back of the net for the Assumption lead.

-East's goal held strong until the 19:58 mark. With just two seconds left in regulation, Curley got ahold of the puck and send a hard shot toward the net. Assumption goalie David Zulauf (Rochester, Mich. / Bridgton Academy (Prep)) seemed to get at least a piece of the puck but not all of it, tying the game at two with just two seconds left in regulation.

-Assumption fought hard in overtime, placing three shots on net that included a sliding save by Soucy on a cross-crease shot by Devan Sheth (Ashland, Mass. / Islanders Hockey Club (USPHL Premier)), but couldn't come away with the equalizer.

-The Hounds got off to a 1-0 start at the 5:48 mark of the first period. John Pigott (Arlington, Mass. / Tilton School (Prep)) centered a pass to defenseman Matt Drake (Whiting, N.J. / Islanders Hockey Club (USPHL Elite)) who came rushing down from the point and put the puck into the top left corner for his second on the season. Saint Anselm tied it at one with 3:17 left in the period on a rebound shot from Kilian Hammersmith.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-Saint Anselm outshot the Hounds 32-24. Assumption was 0-for-3 on the power play, while the Hawks went 0-for-2.

-Zulauf made 30 saves on 32 shots and moved to 12-5-3 on the year. Soucy made 22 saves on 24 shots and moved to 10-10-1 on the year.

-Drake, who has two goals on the season, has now scored in back-to-back games, scoring in his team's previous 5-4 win over Stonehill.

-Robert Holyoke's (Middleboro, Mass. / South Shore Kings (USPHL Premier)) point streak continued on Tuesday night with his one assist. He has tallied at least one point in each of his last four games and eight in his last seven games.

-Tuesday marked the team's seventh overtime game this season, setting the new school record of overtime games in one season. The previous record was six, which occurred in both the 1989-90 and 2015-16 seasons.

-Tuesday was also Assumption's final NE10 matchup of the season. They finished NE10 play with 17 points and currently in first-place by two points over Saint Anselm. However, most other NE10 foes have several conference games left to play.
