WORCESTER, Mass. – Assumption men's ice hockey junior Robert Roche (Holden, Mass. / Tri City Storm (USHL)) and freshman Devan Sheth (Ashland, Mass. / Islanders Hockey Club (USPHL Premier)) have won Northeast-10 Defensive Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year respectively, announced by the conference on Friday.

Roche had an impressive season as part of the defensive unit, tallying five goals and 12 assists for 17 points. He currently ranks third within the Northeast-10 with a +16 plus/minus rating, the best on the team. Roche maintained an impressive +10 plus/minus rating in conference play to go along with three goals and seven assists. It is the first time Roche has won a major award from the NE10, but did win Player of the Week Honors in week four this season. Roche's accomplishment marks the second year in a row an Assumption student-athlete has won Defensive Player of the Year with teammate Dante Tomassini (North Branford, Conn. / Connecticut Jr. Wolfpack (EHL)) winning in 2016-17. It marks the fourth time overall that someone from the school has won the award.

Sheth finished his first regular season with nine goals and nine assists for 18 points. Sheth started the second-half by tallying seven points (four goals, three assists) in the first four games since the team's return from winter break. Sheth had five games where he tallied at least two points and leads the conference with three shorthanded goals. He won back-to-back Rookie of the Week Honors in weeks nine and 10. He is the second person to win the award in school history and first to win since Taylor Larsen in the 2008-09 season.

In addition to  Roche's and Sheth's accomplishments, forward Matt Damelio (Rochester, N.Y. / Northwood (Prep)) and goalie David Zulauf (Rochester, Mich. / Bridgton Academy (Prep)) were named to the All-Conference Second-Team, while Robert Holyoke (Middleboro, Mass. / South Shore Kings (USPHL Premier)) joined Sheth on the All-Rookie Team.  Roche also earned All-Conference First Team honors.

Damelio led the team with 22 points in the regular season, netting 10 goals and 12 assists. He sits tied for fourth in points within the conference and is tied for third in power play goals (five) and fourth in shots on goal (95). He won Player of the Week Honors in week 12.

Zulauf finished the regular season with a 12-6-3 record along with a 2.55 goals against average and a .908 save percentage in 21 games. Those marks put him second in wins, third in goals against average and fourth in save percentage within the NE10. Zulauf also won Goalie of the Week Honors three times this season.

Holyoke leads the team with 12 goals, putting him tied for second within the conference. Holyoke went a span where he scored six goals in six games, stretching from January 18 through February 2. He has five power play goals this season, two game-winning goals and 99 shots on net. He won Rookie of the Week Honors in week one and week 12.
