WORCESTER, Mass. - Following a tough one-goal loss to nationally ranked Saint Leo, the men's lacrosse team is now ranked 19th in the latest United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Poll (USILA) National Poll.
The Hounds moved up one spot with 41 points despite the 13-12 loss to No. 18 Saint Leo. Assumption fought back from a four-goal deficit to tie the Lions but they scored late and Assumption had a goal disallowed at the buzzer to fall by one. This marks the second straight week the team has been ranked after sitting at 20th last week.
Adelphi moved up to the top spot, with 17 first place votes and 378 points. Le Moyne (4), Merrimack (7) and Pace (8) are all currently ranked in the top ten. Defending national champion Merrimack dropped from the top spot after falling to No. 5 LIU Post in overtime. Saint Anselm also was in the rankings at No. 17, with 14 points.
Assumption returns to action on Wednesday when the team travels to face Post at 3 p.m.
