Following day one of competition, which included the 1-meter diving event, the 200 medley relay and the 800 freestyle relay, the Hounds sit in third place overall with 112 points.

In the first relay event of the day, Assumption swam a record-breaking time of 1:46.32 in the 200 medley relay. The squad, which consisted of junior Victoria Weber (Augusta, Maine / Cony), sophomore Rachel Gagnon (Tolland, Conn. / Tolland), senior Katherine Medeiros (Mattapoisett, Mass. / Bishop Stang) and freshman Carylyn Waite (Tampa, Fla. / Tampa Prep), finished the race well over a second faster than its closest competitor and was the only squad in the race to qualify for the NCAA B Cut.

The team also broke the previous Assumption College record of 1:46.74, set last season by Weber, Gagnon, Mederios and senior Elise Prayson (Dayton, Ohio / Archbishop Alter), with their performance.

In the 800 yard freestyle relay competition, the Hounds once again finished atop the field with an impressive time of 7:41.54, clocking in fast enough to qualify for the NCAA B Cut. The squad, which consisted of Waite, sophomore Tricia Lee (Norwood, Mass. / Norwood), freshman Bryanna Veroneau (Belchertown, Mass. / Belchertown) and sophomore Rachel Lanam (Sebastian, Fla. / Sebastian River) touched the wall over three seconds faster than its closest competitor.

The foursome of underclassmen not only notched a gold-medal performance for the Hounds, but shattered the Assumption program record of 7:44.14 in the event.

After one day of competition, Bentley is in the lead with 130 points, followed by Saint Rose (129), Assumption (112), Southern Connecticut (86) and Le Moyne (81).
