Women's Cross Country Set to Compete at NCAA National Championship

The Assumption College women's cross country team, receiving votes in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division II National Poll, will be competing in its second-consecutive NCAA Division II National Championship this Saturday in Evansville, Indiana. The women's race is set to start at 9:30 a.m. (EST).        

The Hounds enter Saturday's National Championship boasting five All-Region competitors, including senior Antonia Pagliuca (Peabody, Mass. / Peabody Veteran's Memorial) who is a four-time, First-Team NE10 All-Conference selection and All-Region performer. Last year at nationals, Pagliuca finished in 97th place, crossing the finish line in 22:30.6.

Assumption will also look to senior's Courtney Fisher (Peterborough, N.H. / Contoocook Valley Regional) and Megan Corbeil (North Smithfield, R.I. / Mount Saint Charles Academy) who were All-Region performers this season. Last year, Fisher paced the Hounds at their first National Championships, finishing 74th with a time of 22:16.7. Corbeil was the fourth runner to cross the line for the team, clocking in with a time of 24:19.0.

Kialeigh Marston (Standish, Maine / Bonny Eagle) will look to continue her fantastic sophomore campaign at nationals, as she earned All-NE10 and All-Region honors this year. Senior Elizabeth Sullivan (New Bedford, Mass. / Bishop Stang) rounds out the All-Region honorees for the Hounds, as she finished in 21st place with a time of 24:04.4.

Senior captain Sara Amato (North Attleboro, Mass. / Bishop Feehan) will be competing at her second National Championship, while junior Charlotte Allen (West Bridgewater, Mass. / West Bridgewater) will be competing in her first.
