WORCESTER, Mass. - Junior Kialeigh Marston (Standish, Maine / Bonny Eagle) has been officially selected to compete in the 2018 NCAA Women's Cross Country National Championships, as announced by the NCAA on Monday evening, following her impressive performance over the weekend.
Marston placed fourth overall in the NCAA East Regionals, held in Bethpage, N.Y. with an impressive time of 22:28.3. She was the second fastest individual among runners whose team didn't qualify for the NCAA Championships, which secured her selection.
From the East Region, Stonehill, Roberts Wesleyan and Merrimack qualified. Assumption finished fourth, one year after winning the NCAA Regional Title, to barely miss out on qualifying as a team. This does mark Marston's third straight appearance, as she went with the team in 2016 and 2017. She finished 214th in 2017 and sixth among the team's runners.
The NCAA Championships take place on Saturday, December 1 in Pittsburgh, Pa. at Schenley Park. To view the complete field of NCAA Women's Cross Country Championship participants, click here.
