The Sports Medicine Department is comprised of four Certified Athletic Trainers who are board certified healthcare professionals trained to provide student-athletes with high quality healthcare though the six domains of Athletic Training. This includes prevention, evaluation and assessment, immediate care, treatment and rehabilitation, organization and administration, and professional development. Assumption College Athletic Trainers work under the direction of head team physician Dr. Lee Mancini and make referrals though the UMASS Memorial Healthcare System.
The Assumption College Sports Medicine Department, in conjunction with the missions and visions of Assumption College and the Assumption College Athletic Department, developed the following statements to guide the care of our student-athletes:
Positivity, Mindfulness, Authenticity
Assumption College Sports Medicine advocates proactive and comprehensive healthcare for the modern student-athlete. Our values allow our team of Athletic Trainers and Physicians to create personalized injury prevention, assessment, and rehabilitation techniques to address our patient’s physical, mental and emotional health. This values based approach to athletic healthcare contributes to the Assumption College student-athlete experience.
We envision fostering our mission through the use of evidence based research, relationships with fellow healthcare professionals, and increasing our use of technology. We will cultivate a positive environment that promotes mindful and authentic care of the student-athlete.
