Pleasantville, N.Y. (November 12) -- Led by a 21-point effort from Kevin Donahue (Pawcatuck, Conn./Stonington), the Assumption College men's basketball team pulled away for a 69-49 rout of Nyack College on day two of the Pace Tip-Off Classic on Saturday evening at the Goldstein Athletic Center.

Assumption trailed early by a 10-7 margin after a layup by Lamore Church with 11:54 left in the first half. The Hounds took the lead for good though just 1:11 later as junior Mike Auriemma (Manchester, Conn./The Hun School) knocked down a three to put Assumption up 12-10. Assumption built the lead into double digits for the first time at 32-22 with 1:57 left on a triple from Donahue before taking the 35-22 edge into the halftime break.

In the second half, the Hounds pushed the lead up to 21 points at 54-33 with 11:02 left on a layup from Ryan Rozsnaki (Montreal, Quebec/Landstown) and led by as many as 24 points before wrapping up the 20-point victory.

Donahue led all scorers with 21 points, including five three-pointers, to go along with six rebounds. Rozsnaki had seven points to go along with nine rebounds and 12 assists, while captain Tim Beinert (Bellerose Village, N.Y./Holy Cross) had 17 points and seven rebounds. Ronson Quick (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) also finished in double figures with 11 points.

Ryan Woodard had a 12-point, 10-rebound double-double as the Hounds held Nyack to just 1-for-17 shooting from three-point land.

Assumption is now 1-1 on the season and returns to action on Wednesday evening as the Hounds host American International in their Northeast-10 opener beginning at 7:30 p.m. at Laska Gym.
