Worcester, Mass. (November 22) -- Led by a career-high 27-point effort by Tim Beinert (Bellerose Village, N.Y./Holy Cross) and 25 points from Cory Schmidt (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh), the Assumption men's basketball team won its third straight game with a 92-78 victory over Southern Connecticut.

The Hounds never trailed in the game as they jumped out to a 49-35 edge at the halftime break. Schmidt knocked down five straight three-pointers in the period, along with 15 points from Beinert as the team shot 59.4 percent from the field.

In the second half, the Hounds led by as many as 19 points as they won their second straight game over the visiting Owls. Trevon Hamlet led four Owls in double figures in the game while the Hounds held Southern to just 38.8 percent shooting from the field in the game.

Beinert finished with 27 points and 10 rebounds, while Schmidt had 25 points on seven three-pointers. Ryan Rozsnaki (Montreal, Quebec/Landstown) also added 12 assists in 30 minutes of play.

The Hounds improve to 3-1 overall and a perfect 2-0 in Northeast-10 play, while the Owls fall to 1-4 overall and 1-1 in the league. Assumption returns to action on Sunday afternoon, traveling to Le Moyne for a 3:30 p.m. start in Syracuse, N.Y.
