Worcester, Mass. -- Assumption men's tennis team picked up its elusive second conference win of their season on Sunday, sweeping the Yellow Jackets of American International College 9-0 at the Assumption College tennis courts.

Assumption senior Jimmy Mongello (Plymouth, Mass./Plymouth North) won a thrilling back and forth match at number one singles, defeating sophomore Jakub Simicek (Treneianska Turna, Slovakia / Business College) 7-6, 6-4. At number two singles, senior Tariq Sheikh (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow) defeated senior Robert Lubold (Holyoke, Mass. / Holyoke), 6-2, 6-1.

Assumption is now to 3-9, with a 2-6 record in the Northeast-10, while AIC falls to 0-9 and 0-7 in conference. The Greyhounds host Saint Anselm on Tuesday.
