New Haven, Conn. (November 20) -- In a battle of unbeatens, the Assumption College men's basketball team led from the outset as the Hounds came away with an 80-67 victory at Southern Connecticut in Northeast-10 Conference action on Tuesday night at Moore Fieldhouse.

Assumption started the game strong and jumped out to a quick lead at 10-3 following a three-pointer from graduate student Kevin Donahue (Pawcatuck, Conn./Stonington) as the Owls called a timeout. The Hounds kept up the pressure and pushed the lead into double digits at 19-7 after a three-pointer from senior Tim Beinert (Bellerose Village, N.Y./Holy Cross) just 5:08 into the game.

The Hounds led by as many as 14 points in the opening half before the Owls cut the lead into single digits at 38-29 at the half following a Deshawn Murphy layup at the buzzer off an inbounds play with 0.4 left. Beinert led the Hounds with 11 points in the first half, along with a 10-point period from senior Ronson Quick (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee).

Assumption opened the second half with an 11-2 run, capped by a three-pointer from Quick, and the lead swelled to 18 points with 16:44 left in the game. Southern Connecticut chipped away at the lead and got it down to 11 with 3:30 left before the Hounds held off the Owls for the 13-point win.

Quick led the Hounds with 21 points as five players finished in double figures. Beinert posted an 18-point effort as he was 7-for-11 from the field, along with 17 points from Donahue as he was 5-for-7 from three-point land. Senior Ryan Rozsnaki (Montreal, Quebec/Landstown) posted a season-high 12 points, while sophomore Terrance Bobb-Jones (Wilmington, Del./Delcastle Voc-Tech) posted a 10-point, 11-rebound double-double.

Trevon Hamlet led the Owls with 18 points as three Southern Connecticut players finished in double figures.

Assumption is back in action on Sunday, November 25th as the Hounds host Pace University for their home opener beginning at 3:30 p.m.
