Easton, Mass. (April 1) -- The Assumption College men's tennis team lost to No. 8 ranked Stonehill College, 8-1, at the Sally Blair Ames Sports Complex on Sunday afternoon.
The Skyhawks are ranked eighth in the NCAA Division II East Regional rankings.
Nathan LaFond (Goffstown, N.H./Goffstown) picked up the lone point for the Greyhounds in a thrilling three-set match with Brett Armstrong at number five singles. LaFond won the first set, 6-4, but dropped the second set by the same score before winning 13-11 in the tiebreak situation.
The Greyhounds fall to 2-10 on the season and 1-8 in the Northeast-10, while Stonehill improves to 11-2 overall and 5-1 in league play.
The Greyhounds will return to play on Tuesday, April 10, as the team faces off against Non-Conference opponent Wheaton. The match will begin at 4 p.m. in Worcester, Mass.
