Worcester, Mass. (November 3) -- In an exhibition game at the Hart Center, the Assumption men's basketball team dropped an 88-68 final to Division I Holy Cross on Saturday afternoon.
Assumption opened up a 13-9 lead early on following a layup from junior Terrance Bobb-Jones (Wilmington, Del./Delcastle Voc-Tech) with 14:57 left in the first half. The Crusaders answered with a 15-4 run though over the next five minutes to open up a 24-17 advantage with 9:36 on the clock in the first half. Holy Cross led by a 49-32 margin at the halftime break and led by as many as 27 in the second period, en route to the exhibition win.
Sophomore Chris Fitzgerald (Somerset, Mass./Northfield Mt. Hermon) led the Hounds with 21 points off the bench behind 6-for-8 shooting from three-point land, along with 17 points and four assists by freshman Kamali Bey (Springfield, Mass./Wilbraham & Monson Academy). Bobb-Jones was also in double figures as he added 10 points and five rebounds.
Cullen Hamilton led five Crusaders in double figures with 26 points on 11-for-16 shooting from the field.
The Hounds open the 2013-2014 regular season on Saturday, November 9 as the team travels to Holy Family University in Philadelphia to take on the Tigers at 6 p.m. as part of a two-day tournament.
