Worcester, Mass. (February 20) -- Rallying from five points down in the final five minutes, the Assumption College men's basketball team rallied past the College of Saint Rose for a 63-58 victory on Wednesday evening. Assumption is currently receiving votes in the NABC/Division II National Top 25 Poll and is ranked No. 3 in this week's NCAA East Region Poll.

The Hounds jumped out to a 15-9 run over the first 8:10 of the game, capped by a jumper from sophomore Terrance Bobb-Jones (Wilmington, Del./Delcastle Voc-Tech). A 10-5 Saint Rose run the lead to 20-19 with 7:25 left before the Golden Knights eventually tied it up at 25-25 on a Tyler Sayre free throw with 3:40 remaining in the half. Senior Tim Beinert (Bellerose Village, N.Y./Holy Cross) put the Hound's lead back to four at 29-25 with just 2:16 on the clock before a 7-0 run for the Golden Knights made the score 32-29 in favor of the visitors at the break. The Hounds shot 54.2 percent from the field in the half and were led by eight points from graduate student Kevin Donahue (Pawcatuck, Conn./Stonington).

Assumption came out hot in the second half and after back-to-back three's from Beinert, the Hounds extended to a 43-37 lead. Saint Rose tied the game at 45-45 though on a three from the corner by Chris Dorgler before a pair of Beinert free throws put the Hounds back up by two with 10:28 remaining in the game.

The Golden Knights picked it up on offense though and stretched the lead up to five at 54-49 with 4:51 left after a jumper from Dominykas Milka. The Hounds rallied though and on a three from the corner by senior Ronson Quick (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee), Assumption tied the game up at 54 with 2:34 remaining.

The teams traded the lead twice before Milka put Saint Rose ahead at 58-57 with just 1:15 left in the game. On the ensuing Assumption possession, Quick converted a tip-in on his own missed shot with 49 seconds left for the 59-58 edge. The Hounds knocked down four free throws down the stretch, including three from Donahue, to secure the five-point win.

Over the last two years, the Hounds have had 25 games decided by five points or less, including four against the Golden Knights.

Beinert led three Hounds in double figures with 18 points, along with 15 for Quick and 14 from Donahue. Senior point guard Ryan Rozsnaki (Montreal, Quebec/Landstown) posted 11 assists in the game.

Milka led Saint Rose with 23 points and eight rebounds, along with 10 each from Tyler Sayre and Dorgler.

With the win, Assumption improves to 18-6 overall and 15-5 in the Northeast-10, while Saint Rose falls to 12-12 overall and 9-11 in league play.
