Worcester, Mass. (April 1) -- On a sunny Tuesday afternoon, the Assumption College women's tennis team improved to 3-9 overall and 2-4 in Northeast-10 play with a 5-4 win over the University of New Haven. With the loss, the Chargers fall to 6-4 overall and 4-4 in the league.
Picking up the eventual match-winning point was sophomore Paige Palmero (Trumbull, Conn./Lauralton Hall), who earned the 7-5, 6-1 straight-set victory at No. 6 singles. Assumption came out of doubles action with a 2-1 lead in the match, led by an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles by the team of freshman Hannah Riley (Ellington, Conn./Ellington) and senior Meg Hall (Pembroke, Mass./Notre Dame).
The Hounds are back in action on Thursday, April 3rd as the team plays host to Franklin Pierce University for a 3 p.m. start.
