Worcester, Mass. (April 3) -- In Northeast-10 Conference action on Thursday afternoon, the Assumption College women's tennis team picked up a convincing 8-1 home victory over Franklin Pierce University that included a sweep of the six singles points.
Each of the singles victories came in straight sets, including a 6-0, 6-0 blanking by senior Meg Hall (Pembroke, Mass./Notre Dame) in the No. 5 spot. In the top singles spot, freshman Hannah Riley (Ellington, Conn./Ellington) trailed by a 4-1 margin in the second set before roaring to life to complete the straight-set victory with scores of 6-2 and 6-4.
With the win, Assumption improves to 4-9 overall and 3-4 in Northeast-10 play, while the Ravens drop to 1-9 overall and in the league.
Assumption is back in action on Saturday, April 5th as the Hounds travel to Le Moyne for a 3 p.m. start.
