THE BASICS:

-The Lead: The Assumption College men's tennis team defeated Clark University by a score of 5-4 on Friday afternoon at home. The Hounds end their fall season with a 1-2 record, returning to play on March 19 as Assumption travels to Bentley.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
-Junior Chris Waung (Bolton, Conn. / East Catholic) paired up with sophomore Ryan Foster (Bloomfield, Conn. / Classical Magnet) to compete against Fernando Pinoargote and Spencer Pinkney at No. 1 doubles, taking the match, 8-3.
-Sophomore Christian Zuber (Broadview Heights, Ohio / Saint Ignatius) and freshman Reb Mariano (New London, Conn. / Saint Andrew's School) paired up at No. 2 doubles deafeating Andrey Samodaev and Teodor Nicola 8-5, giving the Hounds a 2-1 advantage going into singles play.
-Waung and Foster continued the momentum, both taking their singles matches in addition to their doubles victories. Waung won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 singles over Samodaev and Foster took No. 2 singles 6-0, 7-6 following a 5-0 tie-breaker.
-Mariano took the last match for the Greyhounds at No. 4. The freshman earned a 6-4, 6-2 win to help clinch Assumption's close victory.

-Assumption returns to action in the spring as the Hounds head to Bentley on Saturday, March 19 for a Northeast-10 Conference match.
