THE BASICS:

- The Lead: On day two of the Stonehill Tip-Off Classic, the Assumption College men's basketball team improved to 2-0 overall on the season with a 69-63 victory over Post University in non-conference action at Merkert Gym.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Assumption improved to 2-0 with a quick start to the game as the Hounds led by a 34-22 margin at the break. The Hounds got balanced scoring with two starters in double figures, along with junior Reilly Reid (Mississauga, Ontario/Lorne Park) leading the team with 20 points off the bench.

- The game featured six lead changes and two ties as a 13-0 first-half run opened up a 16-12 game into a 29-12 margin with just over five minutes left in the opening half.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Reid led the Hounds with a 20-point effort off the bench, while junior Declan Soukup (Melbourne, Australia/Hallam Senior College) posted 19 points, six rebounds and three assists. Sophomore Kamali Bey (Springfield, Mass./Wilbraham & Monson Academy) also finished in double figures as he posted a 14-point outing.

- Assumption held Post to just 32.4 percent shooting from the field and 14.3 percent from three as the Hounds also forced 16 Eagle turnovers.

- Post did hold the 45-33 rebounding advantage though, but it was Assumption that outscored the Post bench by a 32-12 margin overall for the game.

- The Hounds return to action in the team's Northeast-10 opener on Wednesday, November 18th as Stonehill College visits Laska Gym for a 7:30 p.m. start.
