- The Lead: On Wednesday night in Northeast-10 Conference play, the Assumption College men's basketball team dropped a 91-56 road final to Southern New Hampshire University at the SNHU Fieldhouse.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Southern New Hampshire jumped out to a 15-0 lead over the first 4:27 of the game before the Hounds got on the board on a corner three from junior Reilly Reid (Mississauga, Ontario/Lorne Park). The Penmen stretched the lead out to 20 with 5:39 left in the period before taking a 49-25 lead into the halftime break. SNHU shot 56.3 percent from the field in the first period and converted nine Hound turnovers into 17 points on the other end.
- Senior Tre Owens (Rota, Spain/Rota) led the Hounds with nine points in the first half, while Chris Walters paced three Penmen in double figures with 12 first-half points.
- The Penmen maintained a consistent margin throughout the second half as the hosts took the first of two regular-season meetings this season. The Hounds and Penmen meet in Worcester on Wednesday, February 3rd beginning at 7:30 p.m. at Laska Gym.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Owens led the Hounds with a 16-point effort to go along with 13 points from junior Declan Soukup (Melbourne, Australia/Hallam Senior College) and 12 points from Reid. For the Penmen, Walters and Rodney Sanders had 20 points each as six SNHU players finished in double figures.
