Chestnut Hill, Mass. (March 22) -- The Assumption College men's tennis team fell by a score of 6-1 on Sunday at Boston College. Sophomore Tom Knight (Wilbraham, Mass. / Minnechaug Regional) was the only Hound to score for Assumption, taking the No. 6 singles match in three sets.

The Eagles (6-9) claimed all three doubles matches to take the lead headed into singles competition. Sophomore Chris Waung (Bolton, Conn. / East Catholic) and junior Viljami Rahnasto (Vantaa, Finland / Eiran lukio) lost at No. 1 doubles by a score of 8-1, snapping their four-win streak.

Sophomores Marco Leung (Macao / The International School of Macao) and Casey Hodor (Wickford, R.I. / Bishop Hendricken) fell at No. 2 doubles, 8-3, while the pairing of Knight and sophomore Jakob Zylak (Dunbarton, N.H. / Coe-Brown Northwood Academy) dropped the No. 3 match, 8-4.

In singles competition, Knight earned Assumption's only point and was also the only Hound to push his match to three sets. He took the first 6-4 and fell in the second 4-6, before earning a 10-6 victory in set three for the win.

Both Waung and Leung had a strong showing at No. 1 and 2 singles, respectively. Waung fell by a narrow two-point margin in both sets while Leung was defeated 7-5, 6-2.

With the loss, the Greyhounds drop to 4-5 on the season. Assumption is scheduled to return to action on Saturday, March 28, against Bentley at 12 p.m.
