THE BASICS:

- The Lead: In Northeast-10 Conference play on Wednesday night, the Assumption College men's basketball team dropped a 73-63 road final at the College of Saint Rose at Nolan Gym. The game was the lone regular-season meeting between the teams this year.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- In the first half, the Hounds took off to a 15-6 early lead with 11:13 left on a three from junior Jack Sullivan (Stony Point, N.Y./Albertus Magnus). Assumption extended the lead into double digits at 22-12 with 7:04 left after a layup from sophomore Kamali Bey (Springfield, Mass./Wilbraham & Monson) and eventually made it 27-15 with only 3:28 left in the period. The Golden Knights then closed the half on a 14-2 run and the game headed into the break tied at 29-29.

- The teams came out even in the second after just 1:23 into the half, the Hounds held a slight 33-29 lead after a layup from junior Declan Soukup (Melbourne, Australia/Hallam Senior College). The Golden Knights took their first lead of the period at 45-43 following a three from Anthony Russell and saw that lead swell to seven at 60-53 with 5:43 on the clock.

- Junior Reilly Reid (Mississauga, Ontario/Lorne Park) knocked down a jumper with 2:38 left to cut the lead down to just five at 62-57 before the Golden Knights slowly pulled away for the 73-63 final.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Bey led the Hounds with a 13-point, nine-rebound performance to go along with 11 points from Soukup. For Saint Rose, Tyler Sayre led all scorers with 22 points and eight rebounds, while the Saint Rose bench outscored Assumption 38-15. Russell was the top scorer off the bench for Saint Rose, finishing with 18 points in 32 minutes of play.

- For the game, Saint Rose shot 47.9 percent from the field and 42.1 from three while also converting 19-of-22 free throw attempts.
