THE BASICS:

- The Lead: Despite four players finishing in double figures on Saturday afternoon, the Assumption College men's basketball team dropped an 87-75 final to Adelphi University in Northeast-10 Conference action. The game marked the final cross-divisional contest of the regular season for the Hounds.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Junior Declan Soukup (Melbourne, Australia/Hallam  Senior College) led four Hounds in double figures with 19 points, while senior Tre Owens (Rota, Spain/Rota) was the other starter in double figures with 11. Senior Julian Aiken (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) added 16 points off the bench, as well as a 13-point outing from freshman Justin Tuckson (Stafford, Va./Christ  Chapel Academy).

- Adelphi had five players in double figures, led by a 22-point effort form Michael Coffey. Manny Suarez was also among the players in double figures with 11 points to go along with a team-leading eight rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- The Panthers jumped out to an early 16-6 lead over the opening 5:50 after a Coffey three and extended that out to 26-9 on a three from Jack Laffy with 11:37 on the clock. Soukup made it a 35-19 game with 4:27 left before Adelphi closed the first 20 minutes on an 11-2 run to take a commanding 46-21 lead into the halftime break.

- In the second, Adelphi led 59-30 with 14:03 left after a jumper from Coffey before the Hounds rallied with a 21-7 run over six minutes to pull within 66-51. A jumper from Tuckson got the Hounds within single digits at 76-67 and a free throw from Aiken made it 79-70 with 2:06 left on the clock. Another Tuckson three with 1:04 left had Assumption within eight before four Panther free throws over the last minute sealed the victory.
