THE BASICS:

The Lead: The Hounds had a 2-1 lead over first-place Stonehill after doubles action, but the Skyhawks captured five of six singles matches to remain unbeaten in conference play with a 6-3 victory on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Assumption came out strong in doubles, as the duo of Paige Benoit (Holden, Mass. / St. Peter Marian Central Catholic) and Kristen Carbone (Taunton, Mass. / Coyle-Cassidy) won at No. 2 doubles by an impressive 8-4 margin.
- At No. 1 doubles, Cassie Burbine (Londonderry, N.H. / Londonderry) and Hannah Riley (Ellington, Conn. / Ellington) were forced to go to a tiebreaker with Victoria Barbetta and Alexandra Vo, eventually coming away with a 12-10 tie-break win to take it 9-8.
- Assumption lost in straight sets at No. 2, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles to give Stonehill the official win, but Burbine fought back to win 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1 singles to make it 5-4.
- Benoit then ended the match by falling 5-7, 6-3, 6-3 at third flight singles for the 6-3 final.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- The loss snapped a ten-match winning streak, dating back to the opening match of the year. Despite the loss, the 10-2 record is still the best for the program since going 11-3 in 1996. The nine conference victories is also the most in program history.
- Burbine improved to 6-6 win the win at No. 1 singles, while she and Riley improved to 10-2 in first flight doubles.
