THE BASICS:

The Lead: Saint Anselm shot 67 percent from the floor in the first half to take a 30-point lead and kept up its hot shooting in the final 20 minutes to come away with an impressive 105-65 victory over Assumption on Tuesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Damien Rance (Melbourne, Australia / Pope John XXIII) actually gave Assumption a 5-2 lead three minutes into the game on a triple, before seven straight by the Hawks put them in front 9-5. Rance scored three more to pull the Hounds within one, however, Saint Anselm responded with the next 15 points to grab a 24-8 advantage with 11:35 left in the first half.

- Less than four minutes later the Hawks stretched their lead to 20. They eventually pushed it to 30 in the final three minutes of the half, while limiting Assumption to 31.0 percent shooting overall, to take a 54-22 lead at the break.

- The Hounds were unable to trim the deficit over the final 20 minutes, as Saint Anselm never let the lead get under 30 in the second half. Malik Brown (Waldorf, Md. / Northpoint) did score seven points with three rebounds in the half, while Stefan Masciarelli (Northbridge, Mass. / St. John's) chipped in four points.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- The Hawks shot 60.3 percent from the floor and went an impressive 15 of 28 from beyond the arc, while limiting the Hounds to 34.8 percent shooting and a 6-for-16 mark from downtown.

- Assumption committed ten turnovers while forcing 12, but was outrebounded in the contest 49-28.

- Rance was the only Hound in double figures, posting 15 points, seven rebounds and one assist. Declan Soukup (Melbourne, Australia / Hallam Senior College) added eight points and two assists while Branislav Vujadinovic (Belgrade, Serbia / St. Joseph) chipped in eight points, three rebounds, and one block.

- Harrison Taggert led four Hawks in double figures, with 23 points, seven rebounds and four assists, including a 6-for-8 performance from three. Tim Guers had a double-double of 18 points, ten rebounds and four assists.
