THE BASICS:

-The Lead: Despite two three-set tiebreakers in singles competition, the Assumption College men's tennis team was shut out at Southern New Hampshire on Saturday 9-0. With the loss, sophomore Ryan Foster's (Bloomfield, Conn. / Classical Magnet) seven-win streak comes to an end. Foster and junior Marco Leung (Macao / The International School of Macao) were the pair to go to push a third set at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
-Junior Chris Waung (Bolton, Conn. / East Catholic) and Foster battled in the No. 1 doubles match but ultimately fell to Tiago Fernandes and Miguel Marreiros by a score of 8-5.
-The other two doubles matches were swept 8-0 to send the Hounds into singles down by three.
-Foster won the first set at No. 2 singles 6-3 before dropping the second 6-1. He and Marreiros battled in the third, but Marreiros claimed a 6-4 win to take the match for SNHU.
-At No. 3, Leung lost the first set 6-1 before winning set two 6-3. He fell in a close third set by a score of 7-6 after a 7-5 tiebreaker.
-All four of the Hounds other singles matches ended in straight sets, including Waung's close 7-6 (7-5), 6-1 loss at No. 1.
UP NEXT:
-The Hounds are scheduled to return to action on Sunday, April 10, when they will face Roberts Wesleyan at home at 11 a.m. The men's team and the women's team will compete simultaneously for the women's only match of the spring season.
