-The Lead: The Assumption College women's tennis team recorded its first win and first Northeast-10 Conference win of the season this afternoon as the Hounds took down Bentley University 7-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
-The Hounds took two out of the three doubles matches, as junior Cassie Burbine (Londonderry, N.H. / Londonderry) and senior Hannah Riley (Ellington, Conn./Ellington) won at #1 doubles, 8-3. Freshman Camille Latoni (San Juan, P.R. / Academia Maria Reina) and classmate Maria Monje (Worcester, Mass. / Holy Name) were victorious at #3 doubles, winning by a score of 8-2.
- Assumption also registered five wins at singles, highlighted by Riley's two set sweep at #2 singles, 6-0, 6-0. Burbine won out of the first flight, 6-4, 6-1, while sophomore Paige Benoit (Holden, Mass. / St. Peter Marian Central Catholic) earned a victory at #3 singles, 6-4, 6-3.
- Latoni and Monje also picked up wins during singles play, winning 6-1, 6-2 and 6-2, 6-4 respectively.
