Then with just seven seconds left, Patrick Fleming (Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. / Iona Prep) found Murray in the corner and he tied the game at 78 apiece on a three. However, Michael Bourke took the ball the length of the court for a layup over two defenders as time expired to secure the win.

- The Hounds closed the deficit to five on a Karl Ziegler (Annandale, Va. / Annandale) jump shot with 2:21 remaining, but were outscored 5-4 over the last two minutes to trail 37-31 at the half.
- Assumption started the second half on an 11-4 run to tie the game at 42 apiece on a Ziegler three-point play. New Haven took back the lead over the next five minutes and extended it to 62-51 with 7:57 remaining.
- The Chargers stretched it to 14, 69-55, at the 4:33 mark, but a personal 11-4 run by Declan Soukup (Melbourne, Australia / Hallam Senior College) made it just a 75-69 contest with one minute left in regulation. Assumption then outscored New Haven 9-3 to it, before the last second layup.
