- The lead: Stonehill stopped Assumption's seven match winning streak, as the Hounds dropped a 5-3 decision tonight in NE10 play.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Senior Cassie Burbine (Londonderry, N.H. / Londonderry) and freshman Julia Chappell (Manchester, N.H. / Manchester Central) were victorious at No. 1 doubles, defeating Alexandra Vo and Annelise Howick 8-6. Stonehill responded by claiming No. 2 and 3 doubles to head into singles up 2-1.
- Burbine kept rolling in singles as she dropped Victoria Barbetta 6-3, 6-7, 6-4, before sophomore Maria Monje (Worcester, Mass. / Holy Name) won out the fourth flight, beating Nicole Downey 6-4, 7-6.
- The rest of the singles matches were extremely close, as Chappell dropped a decision to Vo, 5-7, 7-6, 5-7 and freshman Valeria Sanchez (Carolina, P.R. / Colegio La Piedad) lost to Colleen O'Donnell 4-6, 6-7. Junior Paige Benoit (Holden, Mass. / St. Peter Marian Central Catholic) went to three sets out of the third flight, dropping a 6-3, 1-6, 2-6 decision.
