HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Assumption captured a 2-1 lead early in doubles play. At No. 1 doubles, the duo of Ryan Foster (Bloomfield, Conn. / Classical Magnet) and Reb Mariano (New London, Conn. / Saint Andrew's School) won 8-5. At No. 2 doubles, freshman Max Francis (West Barnstable, Mass. / Barnstable) and junior Danny Waung (Bolton, Conn. / East Catholic) earned an 8-3 victory over Jonathan Frank and Will Jeffreys. Freshmen Erich Steiner (Rutland, Mass. / Montachusett Regional Vocation Technical) and Jameson Keppeler (Syracuse, N.Y. / CBA Syracuse) paired at No. 3 doubles, falling 8-4.
- The Hounds swept the first five singles matches to take a 7-1 advantage. At No. 1 singles, Foster defeated Mason Casady 6-3, 6-1, while Francis claimed two of the three sets at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1.
- At No. 3 singles Waung dropped his opponent 6-3, 6-4 and Mariano added a 6-1, 6-3 victory to remain unbeaten on the day.
- Keppeler picked up a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 5 singles to go 1-1, while Luke Whitehouse (Hopkinton, Mass. / Hopkinton) fell 6-1, 6-3 to Kris Mariheau at No. 6 singles.
