- The lead: The Assumption College women's tennis team improved its winning streak to six matches after dispatching American International 8-1 in NE10 Conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  Senior Cassie Burbine (Londonderry, N.H. / Londonderry) and freshman Julia Chappell (Manchester, N.H. / Manchester Central) improved to 9-2 on the season at No. 1 doubles after defeating AIC 8-3 today. Sophomore Maria Monje (Worcester, Mass. / Holy Name) and freshman Valeria Sanchez (Carolina, P.R. / Colegio La Piedad) won at No. 2 doubles (8-1), while junior Paige Benoit (Holden, Mass. / St. Peter Marian Central Catholic) and Sophomore Camille Latoni (San Juan, P.R. / Academia Maria Reina) were victorious at No. 3 doubles 8-0.

- Chappell continued the momentum out of the second flight, winning 6-1, 6-1, before Monje won No. 3 singles 6-0, 6-0. Sanchez stepped up at No. 4 singles and didn't drop a set, winning 6-0, 6-0.

- Latoni also won 6-0, 6-0 and freshman Veronica Op (Westford, Mass. / Westford Academy) won at No. 6 singles 8-0.
