THE BASICS:

Location: Worcester, Mass (Assumption College Tennis Court)

The Lead: Sophomore Danny Waung (Bolton, Conn. / East Catholic) went 2-0, winning his doubles match with parter Ryan Foster (Bloomfield, Conn. / Classical Magnet) and then won the only match at No. 4 singles but it was not enough as the Hounds fell 7-2 to Adelphi in their home opener of the 2017 season. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- The Hounds won one of three doubles matches to head into singles play down 2-1. Seniors Chris Waung (Bolton, Conn. / East Catholic), and Marco Leung (Macao / The International School of Macao) fell 8-3 to Matteo Cannavera and Uladzislau Litvinchuk at No. 1 doubles. D. Waung and Foster earned a 9-8 win at No. 2 singles to tie the match. Casey Hodor (North Kingstown, R.I. / Bishop Hendricken) and Tom Knight (Wilbraham, Mass. / Minnechaug Regional) dropped No. 3 doubles 8-1. 

- Assumption was swept in straight sets 0-3 in their first three singles matches. C. Waung was up after winning the first set 6-2 and then dropped the last two sets 6-1, while Foster was defeated 7-6 and 6-4 at No. 2 singles. No. 3 single Leung took the lead winning his first set 7-6, but then was defeated 7-5 and 10-7 by Roey Heymann.  

- After losing his first set 7-5, sophomore D. Waung came back to claim the only singles win for the Hounds as he defeated Adelphi's Sabin Adrian Savueluc 6-1, 10-4 to give Assumption their second victory. The Hounds dropped No. 5 and No. 6 singles to fall 7-2.
