The Lead: Seniors Chris Waung (Bolton, Conn./ East Catholic) and Marco Leung (Macao/ The International School of Macao) paired to win their doubles match, and both won their respective singles matches to lead the Hounds to a 6-3 victory over Stonehill on Monday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Assumption started off strong in doubles with two wins. Seniors Tom Knight (Wilbraham, Mass. /Minnechaug Regional) and Casey Hodor (North Kingstown, R.I. /Bishop Hendricken) paired to win No. 3 doubles 8-3. No. 1 doubles duo of C. Waung and Leung won thier match 9-8 with a 7-5 victory in the tiebreaker. Junior Ryan Foster (Bloomfield, Conn. / Classical Magnet) and sophomore Danny Waung (Bolton, Conn. / East Catholic) were defeated at No. 3 doubles by Tom Buckley and Manu Ravichandrakumar 8-6.
- The Hounds won four of six singles matches sweeping No. 1 singles through No. 4 singles. C. Waung faced Stonehill's No. 1 Tom Bellio winning the first set 6-4, dropping the second set 6-1, but closed to win the last set 6-3. Foster took No. 2 singles in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1 agaisnt Nikolay Lisichenok.
- At No. 3 singles Leung dropped the first set 7-6, with a 7-3 tiebreaker, but rebounded to win the last two sets 6-4, 10-6 to earn his second win of the day. D. Waung and Buckley split the first two sets of No. 4 singles, but D. Waung was victorius winning the third set 6-2.
- After a strong doubles performance, Hodor fell 6-3, 6-2 in No. 5 singles along with Knight who dropped two sets 6-4, 6-3 after winning the opening set 6-4 at No. 6 singles.
