- The Lead: Assumption earned its third 9-0 sweep in conference play this year with a dominant 9-0 victory over St. Michael's on home on Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The duo of Cassie Burbine (Londonderry, N.H. / Londonderry) and Julia Chappell (Manchester, N.H. / Manchester Central) combined to earn an 8-1 victory at No. 1 doubles while Valeria Sanchez (Carolina, P.R. / Colegio La Piedad) and Maria Monje (Worcester, Mass. / Holy Name) took their second flight doubles match 8-2.
- In No. 3 doubles, Camille Latoni (San Juan, P.R. / Academia Maria Reina) and Veronica Op (Westford, Mass. / Westford Academy) provided an impressive 8-1 victory for the Hounds.
- Five of six singles matches were decided in two sets, led by Latoni, Sanchez and Chappell. Latoni won at No. 6 6-0, 6-1 while Sanchez followed up with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 5. Chappell was dominant at No. 2 singles with her 6-1, 6-0 win.
- Burbine provided a 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 1 singles while Monje won 6-1, 6-2 and Paige Benoit (Holden, Mass. / St. Peter Marian Central Catholic) secured the sweep with a 6-3-, 2-6, 10-5 win at third flight singles.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Today the Hounds welcomed Dr. Sarah Cavanagh as their celebrity coach. Dr. Cavanagh is currently an Associate Professor of Psychology.
