- The Lead: Assumption won at No. 1 doubles but wasn't able to capture the doubles point or any singles match as the Hounds fell to No. 42 Stonehill 7-0 on Friday afternoon in the team's conference finale.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Assumption's lone victory of the day came in the No. 1 doubles, as Julia Chappell (Manchester, N.H. / Manchester Central) and Maria Monje (Worcester, Mass. / Holy Name) came away with a 7-5 victory. At No. 3, the duo of sophomore Valeria Sanchez (Carolina, P.R. / Colegio La Piedad) and Ana Escudero (Rockville, Md. / Richard Montgomery) fell just 6-4.
- In singles the Hounds were unable to capture a set. Monje had the closest match of the day at No. 3, where she was on the wrong end of a 6-4, 6-2 score. Following the match, the team honored lone senior Paige Benoit (Holden, Mass. / St. Peter Marian) who played her final conference match at home on Friday.
