-The Lead: The Assumption College men's basketball team defeated the Ravens of Franklin Pierce University in a Northeast-10 Conference battle on Tuesday night. After trailing by 14 at the half, the Hounds came back to outscore the Ravens 53-28 in the second to capture the final, 84-73 victory. Prior to the game the Greyhounds recognized three graduating seniors, playing in their final home game: Branislav Vujadinovic (Belgrade, Serbia), Patrick Fleming (Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. / Iona Prep), and Damien Rance (Melbourne, Australia / Pope John XXIII / San Francisco State).
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Franklin Pierce used a 12-point rally in the first half to pull ahead by 11 at the 10:35 mark, 19-8. Sophomore Brandon Kolek knocked down a three-pointer in the run.
-The Hounds used an eight-point run of their own, including threes from Vujadinovic and sophomore Cal Connelly (Rochester, N.H. / Spaulding / Tilton), to tie the game at 21-21 with 7:36 on the clock.
-The Ravens pulled back ahead by six on a three by sophomore Maxwell Zegarowski at the 6:11 mark, 30-24. That basket sparked a 10-point run, including another basket from behind the arc by Zegarowski, to take the 13-point lead, 35-24. The Ravens led by as many as 17 points in the first half before taking the 45-31 advantage into the halftime break.
-Assumption pulled within four just over three minutes into the second half as Connelly and Vujadinovic hit back-to-back three-pointers, 50-46. Franklin Pierce pulled back ahead by nine when Isaiah Moore made a three at the 8:42 mark, 67-58.
-The Hounds used eight points in just over two minutes from Vujadinovic to take over the lead with 5:08 to go, 69-67. Vujadinovic added five more points from another three and a layup to lift the Hounds to the final, 84-73 victory. He finished the second half with 16 total points.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
-Vujadinovic led all scorers with 22 points and added seven rebounds and six assists in the victory. He went 6-for-9 from three-point range. Junior Matthew Kelly (North Potomac, Md. / Quince Orchard) and red-shirt junior Jordan White (Prince Frederick, Md. / Clinton Christian School) each put up 13 points in the victory. First year Isiah Gaiter (Meriden, Conn. / Sacred Heart High School / Huntington Prep) nearly missed a double-double as he finished the night with 10 points and nine rebounds.
-Sophomore Isaiah Moore led the Ravens with 16 points and six assists in the setback. Senior Doyin Fadojutimi finished with 14 points while Zegarowski rounded out double-digit scoring with 13 points.
-Assumption edged the Ravens in rebounding 46-44.
-The Hounds shot 44.6% (33-for-74) from the field and went 12-for-30 from beyond the arc. Franklin Pierce shot 39.2% (29-for-74) from field goal range and went 10-for-27 from three-point range.
-Both teams turned the ball over 11 times.
-The game saw a total of four ties and six lead changes.
